Dr. Allday, I’m just looking for your opinion regarding the responsibility race horse owners and trainers should show toward their horses. I read today on the Paulick Report that yet again another old warrior broke down and was destroyed. Monzante won nearly a half million dollars and the Grade 1 Eddie Read Handicap. He was nine-years-old when he broke down last Saturday running for a $4000 tag. People ask what is the difference between a horse that has always competed at that level and a former stakes horse that has spiraled down to that level? Your thoughts?
